Admission :

Admission are made on
the basis of Entrance Test (EAMCET), conducted by the Government of
Andhra Pradesh for the 70% of seats (Category A to B). From 2007-08.

Seat Allotment

A) 70% of seats are
filled by N.T.R. University of Health Sciences through entrance test (EAMCET)
|
|
|
B) 30% of the seats
are filled by the respective managements.
|
Qualification & Eligibility :
|
|
|
Intermediate or
Equivalent exam with minimum of 50% Marks in Biological & Physical
Sciences.
|
|
|
|
1.
|
A pass in
the two year intermediate examination of the board of intermediate
education of Andhra Pradesh, under 10+2 pattern with physics,
chemistry and biology as optional subjects and which includes a
practical examination in each subject. |
|
2. |
Any other examination
under 10+2 pattern recognized by the university of the board of
intermediate education in Andhra Pradesh wit Physics, Chemistry
and Biology as optional subjects. |
|
3.
|
Pre-Professional or Pre-Medical examination with Physics,
Chemistry and Biology after passing either the higher secondary
examination or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. This
examination shall include a practical examination in group
subjects and also English as a compulsory subject. |
|
4.
|
First year of the three year B.Sc examination
of a recognized university with the Physics, Chemistry and Biology
which included a practical examination in these subjects, provided
that the examination is a university examination and the candidate has
passed the 10+2 examination with English as a core course. |
|
5.
|
B.Sc examination of an Indian university with not less than
two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology and
provided He/She passed the previous Qualifying Examination with
English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. |

6.
|
Any other examination whose scope and standard is found to
be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of board or
university taking Physics,
Chemistry and Biology with a practical test in each and English. |
Note: |

The pre-medical course may be conducted by a medical
college or science college. |

The marks obtained in
mathematics are not to be considered for admission to MBBS Course. |

Selections :
|
|
|
The selections are based solely on the
merit of the candidate in the EAMCET examination.
To be eligible for the EAMCET
examination the candidate must have passed any of the qualifying
examination mentioned in the eligibility criteria.
The candidate must have passed the
examination in physics, chemistry, biology and English individually
and must have obtained 50% of marks in physics , chemistry and biology
taken together, in both the examinations.
In respect of candidates belonging to
the SC and ST the qualifying marks should be 40% instead of 50%.
Certain number of seats are filled in
as "management seats or NRI seats, for which the eligibility
criteria are same, but they do not have to take the EAMCET
examination. The number of such seats and selection process is as per
orders of the Govt. of AP & Dr.NTRUHS issued from time to time.

Registration :
|
|
|
The candidate shall on getting admitted
to any of the affiliated college register with the university by
applying in the prescribed, form along with the fee prescribed,
through the head of the college within one month after getting the admission.
The university in turn gives an identification number which will be
valid till the student completes the MBBS course. Without this number,
the student will not be considered as a bonafied student of the
university and his application to the university examination will not
be accepted.

Duration :
|
|
|
4 1/2 Years
or 9 semesters of six months each. It is divided into three phases:
Phase I: 1 and 2
semesters: Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.
First professional examination at the end of second semester.
Teaching of community medicine starts in this period but will go on
till 7th semester. Phase
II: 3, 4, 5 semesters: Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology and Forensic
medicine, including Toxicology. Second professional examination at the
end of fifth semester concurrently the clinical subjects are also
taught during this phase. Phase
III: 6 and 7 semesters: Community medicine, ENT and Ophtholmology.
8 and 9 semesters Clinical subjects continued from phase II:
General Medicine, TB & Chest diseases Pediatrics, Skin and
Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Radio Diagnosis, Psychiatry, Infectious
diseases, etc. General Surgery, Orthopedics, Dental, Anaesthesia,
Radiotherapy Obstetrics, Gynecology including family medicine, welfare
and planning etc. Third
professional examination part 1 at the end of 7th semester, part 2 at
the end of 9th semester.

Promotions :
|
|
|
1. A pass in I professional is compulsory
before proceeding to phase II.
2. A student who fails in
II professional examination cannot appear for third professional part
I, unless he passes all subjects of second professional.
3. Passing of third professional part I is not necessary before
entering 8 and 9 semester, but a pass in part I examination is
compulsory for being eligible for appearing for part II examination.

Medium of instruction :
|

|
English is the medium for study and
examination.
|
Attendance :
|
|
|
75% attendance in a subject is
compulsory, provided the student has 80% attendance in non-lecture
teaching, i.e. seminars, group discussion, tutorials, demonstrations, practicals,
hospital postings, bed side clinics, failing which the student will
not be permitted to appear for the university exam with his batch of
students. Attendance shall be calculated from the total number of
hours prescribed by UHS / MCI and not the number of classes conducted
is not taken.
